Nurturing, connecting, and resourcing for the North Central Region

Visiting Rapid City, SD and Enning, SD

We traveled to Rapid City, SD on January 13. On our way from Bismarck we passed through the town of Sturgis. It was pretty quiet the night that we came through, but it will come alive later this summer as thousands of Harley riders make their annual trek to South Dakota. On Saturday, we got to meet with Pastor Jeff and Katie Bowman. Pastor Jeff and Katie moved to Rapid City from Tennessee and are leading the effort to revitalize/restart our church in that city. This young couple is doing a fantastic job leading this effort and I believe that they will have great success.

On Saturday afternoon Wanda and I ventured from Rapid City up to Mount Rushmore. I’ve always wanted to see this historic landmark and I was not disappointed. We took some time to go through the historical display that detailed how Gutzon Borglum planned and executed the massive project. This gave me an entirely new understanding of this beautiful monument. I do want to go back in the summer and take in the lighting ceremony that happens in the evening.

We traveled from Rapid City to the small community of Enning for service on Sunday, January 15, with Prairie Bible Church of God and Pastor Robert and Vicky MacDonald. We had a great day worshipping the Lord and shared a fantastic meal after the service. Pastor Robert and Vicky moved to Enning from Connecticut in early 2022. This was quite a transition for them. They moved from the metropolitan area of Hartford, CT to Enning which is a community of approximately 300 people. The MacDonalds have adjusted well and are seeing growth in the church.
